Jennifer Erdley
President of the Board
Jennifer was licensed to practice real estate in Virginia 1987. She relocated to Colorado and obtained her real estate license there in 1991. She purchased a small real estate company in 1994, developed it, and then sold it in 1997 to allow 100% dedication to real estate sales. In 1999, she also obtained appraiser's license. In 2001 Jennifer was listed as Top Producing Broker in Teller County, and in 2002 she was Top Producing Broker in Woodland Park. She has consistently been recognized with production awards every year. She joined Re/Max Performance in 2006.
John Eden
Board Secretary
John is a Vice President and financial advisor for D.A. Davidson & Co. and currently works out of Colorado Springs. He has nearly 20 years of experience, developing his expertise while previously working with two financial services firms. To add to his knowledge, he also served as the owner/operator of his own business. In addition to volunteering with the HDSA, John takes great pride in his work volunteering for the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Mick Bates
Rick Byrd
Rick has spent over 39 years as a Wealth Advisor with Bighorn Wealth Management, working with business owners, executives, and retirees. He’s active in the community, serving as an Executive Board Member of Scouting Colorado’s Greater Colorado Council Boy Scouts. He’s a recipient of the Greater Colorado Council’s Silver Beaver Award and District Award of Merit. He is a member of the Pikes Peak Roundtable, a past board member of the Denver Association of Life Underwriters, a recipient of the Arthritis Foundation’s Cum Laude Award, a past Rotary Club member and Paul Harris Fellow, and an active member of his church. He enjoys studying history, having traveled to many Civil War battlefields with his wife Ann, generally being in the outdoors, and fly fishing with anyone who will go with him. Rick and Ann have two sons, a daughter, and four grandchildren.
Eric Simonson
Joe Tanis
Vice President of the Board
Joe is a real estate agent of the Tanis Team with Re/Max Performance. He is proud to be recognized as professional and driven with a work ethic that that he’s cultivated to make his clients’ experience more enjoyable. Joe is very active in the outdoors and enjoys hiking, snowmobiling, ATVs, fishing, boating, traveling and scuba diving.
Craig Nelson
Craig began his accounting career as a CPA with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Chicago. He provided clients with advice in the acquisition or disposition of various companies. Craig began his legal career also in Chicago where he advised clients in the issuance of debt and/or equity capital; making equity and/or debt investments; management buyouts; the formation of international strategic alliances and business dissolutions. Craig now helps individuals and companies identify and achieve various business objectives. He received a B.A. in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame; an M.B.A. from the University of Houston and a J.D. from the University of Texas.
Pete Zobenica
Pete graduated from University of Minnesota-Duluth in 1966 with a Business Administration degree, and he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Marine Corps upon graduation. He then attended Navy Flight School (Pensacola, FL) . Was designated Naval Aviator in 1968. He flew Marine CH-46 helicopters in Vietnam, 1968-69. Flew 520 combat missions (shot down twice). Released from active duty as Captain in 1971. Pete was then hired by the FBI in 1973. He served with them in Dallas, Amarillo, Gallup, NM, New York City and Tucson as Special Agent, investigating Violent Crime and Organized Crime cases, Principal Pilot-Aerial Surveillance, and Instructor-SWAT, Firearms and Defensive Tactics. He retired from FBI in 1998 (25 years) and moved to Woodland Park in 2000.
Mike Pickett
Mike was a missionary in Russia for eleven years before meeting his wife, Carrie. After becoming a member of the Charis Bible College, Mike became an instructor and eventually the director of Andrew Wommack Ministries of Russia. In 2015, Mike and his wife returned to the States, and Mike now serves as the Vice President of Charis Bible College and International Operations of Andrew Wommack Ministries. He is deeply honored to be part of a ministry that is so active in training and discipling nations. Mike and Carrie have two children, Elliana and Michael – their “missionaries in training.”
John Gomes
Teller County Undersheriff (Retired)
John Gomes served in law enforcement for 45 years until his retirement in 2020. In that time, he worked for the law enforcement agencies of Woodland Park, Denver Metro, Colorado State Patrol, and the Teller County Sheriff’s Office. Before becoming Undersheriff, John led an undercover narcotics team, was promoted to Lieutenant, Deputy Chief of Police, and then Undersheriff. John is also an 11-year Air Force Veteran who stays active with local Veteran groups and gatherings.
Former HDSA Members
Ron Frindt
Ron was a dear friend to the HDSA, and one of its most stalwart members. Ron served his community through Teller County Search and Rescue, Help the Needy, Westwood Lakes HOA, Teller County Honorary Sheriff's Deputy Association, serving on the formation committee for the Pikes Peak Regional Hospital and the Friends of the Library for the Pikes Peak Regional Library. In his free time he enjoyed camping with the Colorado Springs Trailblazers camping group, reading histories of all the places he visited, and spending time with his sons. Ron passed away at Forest Ridge Senior Care, on Thursday, May 1, 2025, following a long bout with metastatic melanoma. Ron is survived by his wife of 52 years, Susan Spiller Frindt and his children and grandchildren.
Tommy Allen
Tommy is a retired Army Master Sergeant that now works as the Director for Public Information and Curriculum Design at an international security company. He regularly volunteered with the Teller County Sheriff’s Office to help with overall public information throughout the county. He brings decades of experience in the public information and marketing fields to the HDSA to help get the word out about helping with their charitable work.
Tommy also produces the historical podcast, Stories from the Midland about Teller County and the surrounding area.
In the beginning of 2024, Tommy attended the Law Enforcement Academy and became a deputy for the Teller County Sheriff’s Office.
Michael Harper
Michael has been involved in the fabric of Woodland Park and the surrounding communities of Teller County since he and his wife, Paula, moved to the area in 1983. Michael keeps pace with community involvement by being active in Therapy dog volunteer work at local health care facilities, an active member of Woodland Life Center Church of the Nazarene, past Chairman of the Board of Woodland Park Chamber of Commerce, past President of Teller County Home Builders Association founding member of the Teller County Economic Development Corporation and Board Member of Honorary Deputy Sheriffs Association of the Teller County Sheriff’s Office.
