Background and Mission

The Teller County Honorary Deputy Sheriff Association is a nonprofit organization that works with the Teller County Sheriff’s Office to assist first responders and administer community-focused programs.

Our Mission

The Teller County Honorary Deputy Sheriff Association is a nonprofit organization that serves as an advisory sounding board and fundraising entity of and for the Teller County Sheriff’s Office. We also assist in building public awareness and support of and for the TCSO; provide advice and counsel during matters of safety to Teller County citizens; serve in an advocacy role in developing community understanding for the mission, goals, and resources for the Teller County Sheriff’s Office; and assist in fundraising to enhance the safety and quality of work for the Teller County Sheriff’s Office personnel including volunteers. The HDSA is governed by a Board of Directors that exercises supervision and control over its activities, properties, and affairs.

Our History

The HDSA was originally formed in 1998 as a Colorado nonprofit corporation under the name Teller County Police Athletic League, Inc. (PAL) and was granted Section 501(c)(3) IRS status. It concentrated on charitable and educational purposes to provide primarily athletic activities for youths. Its role expanded over the years into the current incarnation as the HDSA. While we still administer youth activities, we also meet with the Sheriff regularly and conduct activities that benefit all of Teller County and the people who protect it.
